|Published date||Jul 3, 2008|
|Title||Methods and compositions for production and purification of biofuel from plants and microalgae|
|Patent Application Number||US20080155888 A1|
|Inventor||Vick Bertrand; Caspari Matthew; Guido Radaelli, California Correspondence care of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, USA|
|Relevance||A process for the production of purified oil from microorganism suitable for transesterfication for use as bio-diesel or bio-gasoline.|
|Type of claims||Publication|
|Overview||This patent discloses a process of recovering economically viable oil (triglycerides) from organisms such as animals, multi-cellular plants and microorganisms (Dunaliella, Chlorella or Spirulina). The microbial oil can further be transesterified to produce biodiesel or biogasoline. Advantageously the process produces purified and contaminant free oil products. The process includes, A) obtaining a crude extract from an organismal biomass, B) applying the crude extract to a composition comprising a nanomaterial and recovering the oil product and C) converting the purified oil product by transesterification into biodiesel or biogasoline.|
