Published online: Jul 30, 2010

Geographical region USA
Subject Hydrocarbon extraction
Published date Jul 8, 2010
Title Extraction of hydrocarbons from hydrocarbon-containing materials
Patent Application Number US20100173806 A1
Assignee Green Source Energy LLC, USA
Relevance Method for extracting hydrocarbons from hydrocarbon containing materials using an apparatus.
Type of claims Publication
Overview This patent discloses a method and an apparatus for extracting hydrocarbon-containing organic matter from solid or semi-solid hydrocarbon containing materials. The method involves Bacillus-type thermophilic and chemolithotrophic microorganisms that enable solubilization of hydrocarbon materials. Advantageously, the method is cost effective and enhances better recovery of the products. The method comprises, A) providing a first liquid comprising a turpentine liquid, B) contacting a hydrocarbon-containing material with the turpentine liquid such that to form an extraction mixture and a residual material, using a contacting vessel having first and second outlets, C) separating the extraction mixture from the residual material and D) separating the extraction mixture into a first portion and a second portion using a separation vessel, wherein the first portion of the extraction mixture comprises a hydrocarbon product stream and the second portion of the extraction mixture comprises a portion of the turpentine liquid.
