| Overview | This patent produces a method of increased production of ethanol from carbohydrates. The method advantageously is eco-friendly with no production of carbon dioxide, uses wide biomass sources as substrate and produces high value byproducts including corn oil and animal feed. The method includes, A) converting a carbohydrate source using a homoacetic fermentation to acetic acid, acetate, or mixtures thereof by fermentation, B) recovering, acidifying (if necessary), and converting the acetic acid, acetate, or mixtures thereof to ethyl acetate and C) converting at least part of said ethyl acetate to ethanol using hydrogen obtained from said natural gas source. |
