Overview This patent discloses a method of production of L-arginine by a recombinant DNA of Escherichia comprising a gene argJ (derived from species Bacillus stearothermophilus and Thermotoga neapolitana) coding for an enzyme having an ornithine acetyltransferase activity. The microorganism also contains a further recombinant DNA comprising a gene argA coding for the N-acetylglutamate synthetases. The organism is cultivated with glucose as carbon source and produces L-arginine in the medium and the aminoacid is recovered by conventional methods.
