Welcome to the Southern African Bioenergy Association

The Southern African Bioenergy Association (SABA) is a non-profit organization of dedicated professionals, promoters, sponsors and motivated individuals who cooperate to support the development and implementation of

  • a sustainable bioenergy industry in Southern Africa
  • a comprehensive infrastructure to market and utilize biofuels in the most suitable way
  • a framework of laws and regulations, favourable to the biofuel sector, and to
  • establish a network of companies, organizations and individuals in order to provide a platform for discussions, interaction and co-operation for the benefit of the biofuel sector

About Biofuels

Biofuels are a complementary and alternative energy source to fossil fuels and they can contribute to:

  • further increasing agricultural efficiency
  • creating new job opportunities in agriculture, industry, infrastructure and science
  • the reduction of green house gas emissions and to better environmental conditions for all people on our planet
  • economic independence and prosperity for Southern African countries and their citizens

There are various biofuels to generate energy:

  • Forestry, timber, wood and waste streams
  • Bioethanol to replace petrol
  • Biodiesel
  • Gas produced from renewable sources and waste
  • Hydrogen and other energy carriers, produced from renewable sources
