The 2015 conference convenes with fossil-based power generators at a crossroads, not only in the U.S., but globally:

• The U.S. EPA deadline for carbon dioxide emissions reduction from existing coal-fired power plants is set for June 2015;
• Future U.S. coal-fired electric power plants face additional EPA requirements; and
• The U.K. liberal party is calling for banning coal-generated electricity from old plants without CCS.
