Biomass mixing and milling technology is at the centre of the supply agreementVISALIA, California -- EdeniQ, Inc. and IKA® Works, Inc., a Delaware corporation and subsidiary of the German firm IKA® Werke GmbH Co. KG have announced their mutually exclusive global agreement for the supply of biomass mixing and milling technology for the biofuels and biochemical markets and for ongoing development of biomass milling process technologies.

After several years of joint development work, IKA® and EdeniQ first formalized their partnership in 2009, with the signing of an exclusive manufacturing agreement for a proprietary milling device trademarked by EdeniQ as the Cellunator™. The Cellunator has been installed by EdeniQ at US corn based ethanol plants to consistently provide optimal particle sizing, releasing bound starch and thereby increasing ethanol plant yield by up to 5%. During their 18 months of commercial operations, the Cellunators have provided corn yield enhancements with minimal maintenance or negative impact on other plant processes.

With years of successful collaboration , IKA® and EdeniQ have decided to formalize their ongoing research and development efforts with a joint development agreement. This agreement is focused on milling and mixing equipment for biomass conversion. The development work will focus on EdeniQ's proprietary pretreatment process including an enhanced version of the Cellunator designed for processing cellulosic biomass under the development moniker, "Super Cellunator". The Super Cellunator device promises to bring game changing results in biomass conversion processes. This front end biomass conversion technology has a multitude of applications, and under the development agreement, EdeniQ will market the technology into the biomass conversion market along with scaling up the technology in its 2 ton per day biorefinery, currently under construction and scheduled to be commissioned in Q1 2012. IKA® will be the exclusive provider of the state of the art process equipment.

IKA® Renewable Energy Specialist, Michael Janssen said, "When it comes to the development of new devices and processes, IKA® has always worked closely with its customers. We see the global biomass conversion pretreatment market as a huge opportunity, for which IKA® and EdeniQ have the solution."

EdeniQ CEO Brian Thome added, "We greatly value our partnership with IKA® and are pleased with our success in bringing yield enhancing milling technologies to market over the past couple of years. EdeniQ has already installed the IKA® Cellunator milling technology in several US corn ethanol facilities, demonstrating continuous yield improvements up to 5%, and have a version integrated into our cellulosic pilot plant. We will now be looking to expand our opportunities to international markets and other feedstock flexible, cellulosic biomass conversion facilities. By integrating our technologies with advanced fermentation and separations processes, EdeniQ and its international partnerships are building the technology foundation for tomorrow's green energy and chemical industries, today."
